Hit 200lbs this week!

Well reality hit me when I got on the scale earlier this week and the scale read a whopping 200lbs! Yikes! And to think I have 15 weeks to go yet! Well I cleaned up my diet a bit and my weight is now 197.5 (did not cut calories, just candy lol). I started this pregnancy at 157.5 so this puts me at the 40lbs gained mark. NOT GOOD AT ALL! I’ve got to figure out something here soon. I’ve considered walking but frankly I’m frightened of it. Not because it’s difficult, but because between the round ligament pain and the abdominal wall split I’ve got going on, I’m afraid I’ll get somewhere and not be able to make it back lol.

Thought of joining the gym, but the same problem prevails unfortunately….no transportation plus the expense, yeesh! So I know I need to do something at home. Turbo Jam and Hip Hop Abs are out which really sucks because they are both sooooo fun, but unfortunately same problem as above, even doing low impact, I’m in pain afterwards due to my abdominal split. So what’s a girl to do? Suggestions? I’ve been thinking of doing some sort of body weight work or finding a good prenatal workout video. If you know of something good please tell me!

 Blessings,

 Kassandra

Long Time No Post….

Hey everyone! Well, I know it’s been quite a long time since I’ve updated you all! The reason? Because my pregnancy has not been very fit. I basically stopped exercising and was eating horribly since the Holiday season and as a result my weight has gone up to 186lbs. Although my weight gain has been very fast, my doctor said as long as I focus on eating healthy and exercising from this point on, I can maintain this weight and still be within a total gain on 40lbs which is just 5lbs over the max recommended weight gain (I make big babies lol so 40lbs isn’t bad).

My gain has been all in my boobs and my belly! My legs, arms, and butt are all the same size! Go figure! I feel like I’m going to tip over!

In other news, I found out I’m having a boy! Just like I prayed for. I am being obedient in naming him Caleb (I will post what I mean by that at a later date).

Well that’s enough for now! 22 weeks down, 18 to go!

Blessings,

Kassandra

I can’t believe it! I hopped on the scale this morning and it took my breath away…..169.5lbs! Waaaaah! That’s up 5 1/2 lbs since my doctor’s visit 3 weeks ago, and a whopping 12 lbs since the start of my pregnancy! I guess I didn’t really notice it much and chalked it up to maternal weight gain since all the weight’s been in my breasts and gut, but on Sunday I noticed a little “pudge” in my face. Where did the weight come from? I know…soda, pizza, chik-fil-a, Arby’s, and many servings of ice cream! Not just that, but I haven’t “pushed play” in almost 2 weeks  now! Well, while I cannot account for my taste in food (I mean I hate soda, what the heck is that???) I can at least step up my exercise game.

I’m going on a 20 mile bootcamp for the next 12 days (my next doctor’s appointment in the 3rd). I will “walk” 4 miles a day for 10 out of 12 days using Leslie Sansone’s WATP DVD. Maybe I can drop a couple of these extra pounds before my next appointment (and keep my doctor from killing me LOL!). This starts TODAY! Time to be proactive, instead of reactive!

 Blessings,

 Kassandra

Apologize for the late weigh in. Calorie King had some technical difficulties and I couldn’t get into my account.

My Fit Pregnancy has become very unfit i haven’t exercised in about a week (I know, I know, but that’s a really long time for me!) and I’ve been eating all kids of un-Godly foods! I’ve gained a little bit of weight, I weighed in at 164.5 on my most recent weigh in. My goal was to maintain 162 through my first trimester. I plan to clean up my diet and add my exercise back in to get back down to 162. My doc doesn’t want me to “diet” but if I clean up my diet and keep up with my workouts, if the weight goes back down naturally then that’s ok. So my plan is to work off this extra 2.5lbs and gain it back on Thanksgiving day then lose it again…and gain it back Christmas day then lose it again, and I’ll be into my second trimester again, so my goal in that Trimester is to gain no more than 5-7 lbs as well.

I’m going to try some outdoor walking too for variety. I think my job (sitting at my desk for 5 hours with 1 10 minute break) exhausts me to the point where I don’t want to exercise, so maybe a change in environment will motivate me. Other than that I’m doing good. I’m getting a baby bump and my clothes are starting to get tight. I can still fit my 8’s but they’re tight now….10’s are still too baggy. Other than that, not much new here. I’m actually working on finding a business to replace my current income but that’s a thread for a different place lol.

Oh! In other news, anyone who’s on Wowy, I’m going to be featured again on MDB TV! Apparently, I’m having the first “Million Dollar Baby” Pretty neat huh?

In other news, I appear to be carrying this baby in my breasts! Greats just what I need…..MORE BOOBS! Ugh lol!

Well, until later!

 Blessings,

Kassandra

Sorry late again on my weigh in. I won’t bore you with the statistics again, I weighed in on the 7th and maintained my weight again at 162lbs. I am hoping to make it to my second trimester (just 4 weeks to go) at this same weight.

Well, I am ashamed and embarrassed to admit that my diet has been awful and I log in only a minuscule 15 minutes of exercise this week! I must do better this week. Even if all I get in is 15 minutes a day, at least it’s something. The nausea has lessened, mainly because I’ve skipped my prenatals for the last 3 days. I know I need them but they really don’t help me feel better. I’m considering just doubling up on Flintstones vitamins or something like that, that’ll be easier on my tummy.

I got so sick today. I’m really concerned about my blood sugar. Reason being is that this is the 3rd Sunday in a row I’ve gotten sick like this. The only thing that makes sense is during the week I eat every 2 hours. On Sunday’s I eat in the morning around 8-9am and then don’t eat again until close to 1-2pm. I’m going to start carrying some cheese crackers and hard candy in my purse to have during service (the candy, not the crackers lol!) to keep my sugar level. I’m going to talk to my doctor about this. She may want to screen me for gestational diabetes. :(

I know it’s too early supposedly, but I’m starting to perceive movement in my uterus. It may not be the baby but rather my uterus growing, but there’s definitely something going on in there! I am starting to develop a “baby bump.” It’s mostly maternal water retention I’m sure but it’s making my clothes being to fit awkwardly! I still look like me though. No one would ever guess I was expecting. Well, I think I’ll lay down for a while now…I feel better but still shaky. I will update again soon!

 Blessings,

Kassandra

Well, I hope no one has been actually looking at my food diary: http://www.calorieking.com/public/?member=kbragg lol because it’s looking terrible! The good news is at least I seem to be maintaining my weight. As long as I keep up with my exercise and burning off the excess I should make up for my obviously hurting diet.

One change I’m going to implement this week is since I can’t seem to cook, I’m going to start splitting my take out meals with my daughter (the bottomless pit skinny as a rail, Angel LOL!) to try and cut down on calories. I guess with eating and cooking at home for all these months, I’ve forgotten how large take out portions actually are! 700 calories for a burger, good golly! I’m not splitting my fries with nobody though ROFL! :D It’ll save us a little money to boot!

Also, I’m going to step it up on my workouts. I’ve decided to put on my workout clothes first thing in the morning, instead of regular clothes. That way, when I log off work, I can just walk over to the DVD player, push play, and be done in 30 minutes. I’ve been psyching myself out about my workouts by not wanting to go change clothes, well, now no excuse! 90-150 minutes of exercise is not a huge burden and I know better! I’ve only gotten 30 minutes in so far this week. I will be doing 60 minutes today to meet my 90 minute minimum goal.

Other than that, no big change. Clothes still fit pretty much the same except getting tighter around the waist due to my ab distending (doc says it’s normal in 3rd pregnancies. It’s like my abs are saying “we’re quitting ahead of time and will not resist the impending stretching that is to come!” lol) I realize since I am genetically prone to them, I will probably be one giant stretch mark by the time this baby arrives and am considering cosmetic surgery lol. I’ll probably skip it though because what’s the point? It’ll all wrinkle, shrivel, etc., at some point right? Plus I’m a wuss when it comes to getting cut on, stuck with needles, etc. I still think a tummy tuck should come free with a C-section but hey, what can ya do lol?

Ok, now for my weigh in!

Have I grabbed your attention with that title? LOL! I’d imagine so! Well, let me break it down for you…

My First Ever Wienie Roast:We had a wonderful weekend this past Saturday and Sunday. We spent 2 days in a row with family. It was so nice. As many of you know, I am NOT a native Texan, so when my in-laws asked us if we wanted to come with them to Jerry & Diane’s for a Wienie Roast, I didn’t know what to expect! At first I thought “maybe it’s just Texan for Bar-B- Que….nope! I asked my husband and he said it’s where you make a big bon fire and roast wienies over the open flames! COOL! Now the next question…what is the difference between a “wienie” and a “Hot dog?” Apparently they are different. A wienie is the frank without the bun. Once the wienie is placed into the bun it is converted into a hot dog! Amazing! I’m learning southern LOL!

Anyway, it was great. The only open fires  I’ve ever seen were the ones the factory workers and homeless people burned under the bridges in Philly in those big metal cans lol! The fire was so cool. It was kinda funny because it was chilly outside, so you were only warm on one side. Jerry and Joshua (my hubby) roasted the wienies….Joshua has spent too much time with his Yank wife (me lol) because his wienies looked barely toasted lol! Jerry’s came out nice and crispy like I love ‘em!

On a side note, I think I’d really like to move out into the country some day. It’s so quiet and peaceful. You have loads of land (unlike here in the city where you’re piled on top of each other like anchovies lol), the air is so crisp and clean, and just overall tranquil. I wanted to stay out there forever! I hope we get to do it again soon!

Dairy Queen Disaster, Super Burrito, & Chinese Food: Yep you guessed it! These were my food choices on Sunday and Monday! I’m having a hard time with kitchen smells and cooking, so take out has been my only alternative. I need to find a healthier place to eat most definitely! First there’s Dairy Queen. We ended up stopping there because everywhere else we considered made me gag. BEWARE of anything labeled “hunger buster” lol! I had a double chili cheese burger, medium fry (and half hubby’s fries) 16 ounce Hi C Orange, and a Dilly Bar to top it off for a total of 1995 calories in one friggin’ meal! Oh my gosh! It really should be illegal to squeeze that many calories into so little food. That’s just insane!

Afterwards we headed down to spend the afternoon with my in-laws. Around dinner time we stopped at a nice Mexican Restaurant called “Taco Casa.” I had a Super Burrito and 8 ounce coke (I hate soda, but hubby ordered for me and said that’s all they had). It was really good but I could have eaten another 1 or 2 lol. This pregnancy has afflicted me with “bottomless pit disorder” which if not carefully watched will result in insane weight gain!

Monday was a little better eating wise. Mostly I just ate gold fish crackers and frozen Taquitos. I ordered Chinese food for dinner. I ordered beef with snow peas and fried rice. Not too many calories and tasted really good. I had a little of my daughter’s sweet and sour chicken as well. I forgot how HUGE the Chinese food place portions are so looks like we’ll have Chinese food for a couple more days LOL!

Blood & Urine: Gross I know, but I needed an attention grabber! I went to my first OB/Gyn appointment today. Took the urine test and still pregnant! So now it’s “official” in my hubby’s mind. I told him I bought the same tests that they use in hospitals but whatever lol. Got all my blood drawn and everything. I weighed in and quickly discovered I Lurve their scale! 161lbs woohoo! I was 164lbs on my scale this morning which means my scale is off by 3lbs. I also grew 1/2 inch from 5′7 1/2″ to 5′8″. Must be all the Pilate’s and yoga lengthening and straightening my spine!

They gave me a nice packet with loads of info to read over. So far I’ve read the nausea tips and it’s been helpful. One thing I’ve been doing wrong was drinking water on an empty stomach! I recognized that as soon as I drank water I’d start feeling sick, now I know why. I was also warned to never let my stomach empty. My favorite tip though was to give in to craving immediately! Apparently your body craves what it needs and since I haven’t been craving an horrible food I’m sure I’m ok.

Other than that, lol, I’m going to end this post because it’s HUGE! Just wanted to update ya!

Blessings,

 Kassandra

That’s how I feel right now lol! I’ve done nothing but lie around all day! Dishes are piling up, laundry pile is growing, and all I can seem to do is sleep! Everyone around me tells me not to beat myself up, and I know that rest is what my body needs right now, however I really hate lying around getting nothing accomplished during the day. I did at least get my workout in and that helped some what. This is the toughest 1st Trimester of all my pregnancies I’ve ever experienced!

The good news is I feel much better this morning, but that’s sure to change in a couple hours lol. I’ve also lost 2lbs since Wednesday! I guess all that lying around boosted my metabolism or something LOL! I’ve been adding a little ginger extract to my ginger ale in the morning and before bed and it seems to settle things down in my tummy.

I just received my Lotte Berk DVDs yesterday and am excited to try them out! Also a friend lent me some different Walk Away The Pounds DVDs that I’m anxious to try as well….yep, there are the drowzies again….yawn! Time to snooze between calls again lol! Well, until next post….

Blessings!

Weigh In Today….

Well, I’m still using my Calorie King tracker to keep track of what I’m eating…the good, the bad, and the ugly! I weigh in every Wednesday so I figured I’d keep it up on this blog as well. My last posted weight and measure was done on October 17th so this will be a 1 week update. Here ya go!

October 17th Weigh In Stats:

Weight: 159.5
Body Fat: 25%
Waist: 30 inches
Chest: 37 Inches
Hips: 37 inches
Thigh: 21 inches
Fat Weight: 39.875 lbs
Lean Body Mass: 119.625

October 24th Weigh In Stats:

Weight: 162lbs :(
Body Fat: 26%
Waist: 30 inches
Chest: 38 inches
Hips: 37.5 inches
Thigh: 22 inches
Fat Weight: 42.12 lbs
Lean Body Mass: 119.88 lbs

Total Weight Change: 2.5lbs gained
Total Fat Weight Change: 2.245 lbs gained
Total Lean Body Mass Change: 0.255 lbs gained

2.5 pounds gained in a week my goodness! :( Prayerfully this upward trend will not continue. The gain in my lower body is pretty baffling to me because I never gain much weight there….this could be a positive change as I could use some more cushion LOL! The inch in the boobs though…don’t need that! Where is the weight coming from? Who knows? I mean to gain 2.5 pounds in a week, theoretically I would have to eat an extra 8,750 calories and I certainly didn’t do that! My only conclusion is that it’s my changing body (more milk glands, more blood volume etc.) I won’t stress over it though. As long as I continue to eat sensibly, keep my calories at 1900 net (food eaten minus calories burned through exercise) and exercise a minimum of 150 minutes a week, that’s all I can do.

Well, in other news, I’ve discovered that my baby is taking after his/her father….it appears the only thing palatable to me is Mexican food! Actually, when you buy the real authentic stuff (not the watered down, Gringo friendly commercialized Taco Bell stuff lol) it’s actually pretty healthy! I’ve been eating Taquitos, Fajitas, and Tacos (made with lean steak, onions, lime, and cilantro, not ground beef, lettuce and cheese like us Americans are used to) and I must say, the taste is soooo good! My friend at church says the only Mexican food to really watch out for is Tamales because they’re usually cooked in lard. I don’t particularly like Tamales so no biggie for me lol. I actually bought an authentic Mexican cookbook so I can prepare some of this at home as well (The dude at the taco stand we get our food from just raised his prices on us! I think it’s because he’s gotten a lot more popular with the gringos lol! Hopefully he doesn’t water down his recipe!

The nausea is still kicking my butt….actually, it’s becoming slightly worse! Come on second trimester already LOL! I have an appointment to do my blood work next Tuesday and will be meeting the doctor for the first time on December 3rd.

Well, with that I’m going to end this super long post now, but will check back soon!

Blessings,

Kassandra

As I sit here tummy growling with no idea of anything appealing I’d like to eat, I see that this pregnancy is going to require way more will power than I initially thought! My resistance program is going to have to take a back seat for now. :( I feel soooo sick during and afterwards even with 5lb weights. It’s a bit too much for my body now. Even the Walk Away The Pounds Videos are becoming a challenge to complete, but I’ve been meeting my goal of 150 minutes a week of exercise minimum.

I thank God for those work out videos! They’re fun, and they’re easy enough, but at the same time challenging (I burn 150 calories per mile). Leslie also incorporates some upper body resistance band work, so at least I’m getting some toning in there. The walking is probably enough to keep my legs in shape (I barely gain weight in my lower body anyway). I’m also doing my Pilate’s for as long as I can (before I reach the end of the second trimester where I’m not allowed to lie on my back anymore) to strengthen my core and keep my belly in check. I may pick up the Lotte Berk DVDs too to get some more strength training in, or possibly attempt to order fluidity again.

The most important thing though is I’m still making decent food choices and exercising regularly, 2 things I did not do with my first two pregnancies. These two together should keep weight gain in check. I weigh in tomorrow, hopefully I stay at 161 for the next couple of weeks. Which reminds me, I figured out where the mysterious weight gain came from:)! My boobs! They inflated a couple of cup sizes in the last week lol. Back to granny bras I guess…Well, that’s all for now, off to attempt to find something palatable to eat that’s NOT 100% carbs lol.

Blessings,

Kassandra
